Genesis Kai

Genesis Kai is a Virtual Human; an artist who does not exist in our physical reality, but speaks the universal language of art to communicate and tell phygital (physical and digital) stories.

"Manifest” (2021) is her debut piece, and is a performative digital documentation of her birth and inception as she floats in a meditative state in a liminal space known as “the Embryo”: her point of origin and sentience, which sits in between our physical reality and Genesis’ digital realm. This digital work is complemented by its' physical installation of a sinewy robotic arm that becomes a physical extension of the digital womb that encompasses her, grounded in our world as it gently rotates the digital screen that holds her inside, akin to a fetus’ floating motion which is mirrored by Genesis using light as a motif for a new beginning, as it is the first element of the creation of life.

“Manifest” has been exhibited digitally in Genesis' native metaverse setting with VRWSPark, a joint XR and VR exhibition hosted by her partners, The DSLCollection with New York University Tisch School Of The Arts and The Shenzhen Pingshan Art Museum on the social VR platform, Sansar. “Manifest” was also subsequently featured with the DSLCollection in the 7th BMW Art Guide By Independent Collectors. Sponsored by Doosan Robotics, Genesis’ physical installation of “Manifest” at Asia Now, will be her first physical step into our world, where the audience can be more than a spectator and breathe, and feel with her in one space.
