Skyler Chen

Eve Leibe Gallery is pleased to present at Asia Now 2022 a solo booth by the artist Skyler Chen featuring a new body of works exclusively made for the fair. Chen is a rising artist of the Asian Diaspora experiencing substantial career momentum in recent months, exhibiting in art institutions and international art galleries one after the other.

He draws from his personal life experience blending different languages and cultures: from the traditional Taiwanese iconography to American commercial imaginary. His paintings develop around the details that draw attention to the symbolic power of the objects and memories. A bitten peach, a half-full glass, an American magazine, steamed xiaolongbao, a bird fleetingly – bubble tea, and plum flowers - are the returning items on which our gaze falls.
