Koga Miura

AIFA’s curatorial project is dedicated to showcasing the outstanding talents of two contemporary Japanese artists, Chisato Yasui and Koga Miura. Chisato Yasui's work transcends traditional boundaries by taking the form of abstract sculptures in polyhedron shapes with multiple facets. These sculptures serve as mirrors, reflecting our emotions and sensations and evoking a sense of enigma and spirituality. Yasui's prior training in oil painting informs her approach to ceramics, making the sculpture akin to a canvas. Koga Miura's abstract art invites viewers to explore into the depths of their own emotions and thoughts, while honouring the meticulous adherence to a prescribed process. In Japan, a land steeped in tradition, the adherence to rules with utmost seriousness is a longstanding practice, coexisting harmoniously with the recognition of beauty in the spontaneous and the imperfect. Miura's work exemplifies this duality.
