In its third participation with Asia Now art fair, Ab-Anbar curates a diverse selection of artworks, centred on the deconstruction of historiography as a fundamental practice. Jananne Al-Ani, Majid Fathizadeh, Arash Hanaei, Timo Nasseri, Neda Razavipour, and Nil Yalter, each undertake a profound exploration of themes related to war, migration, socio-political alienation, and memory, all within the context of their unique historical engagements. As a collective endeavour, these artists intricately weave their individual narratives into a rich tapestry, offering fresh perspectives through which we can reevaluate the conventional notion of mainstream history. Their practices extend an invitation to the visitors, encouraging them to actively participate in a reimagined historiographical process—a process that is characterised by a profound exploration, a confrontational stance, and a disquieting revelation of their respective cultural contexts.
