Founded in 2020 by Rebecca Sack and Aude Louis Carvès. The Louis & Sack Gallery specializes in Asian artists from the ‘Nouvelle Ecole de Paris’, particularly Japanese artists from 1950 to 1980. Contemporary ceramics by Asian artists are also regularly on display.

At the occasion of Asia Now 2021, the gallery is presenting an exhibition on Matter and Calligraphic gesture. By connecting contemporary ceramics with abstract painting, our ambition is to create a dialogue between organic works by contemporary ceramists Seungho Yang (Korea) & Freeda Miranda (India), and abstract painting from five Japanese artists of  the ‘Nouvelle Ecole de Paris’: Toshimitsu Imai, Hisao Domoto, Key Sato, Yassé Tabuchi and Jun Dobashi.

The energy of the calligraphic gesture associated with the minerality of ceramics immerse us into the oriental aesthetic tradition, inspired by nature. With strong Asian roots, all these artists have in common the spread of a new artistic breeze on Western art.
