Said Atabekov

Said Atabekov is one of the founders of Kyzyl Tractor group, the first avant-garde art collective founded in Kazakhstan. His works often ironicize stereotypes of Central Asia through the rapid transition from nomadic culture, communism and capitalism. Here a chapan (a long coat often worn in winter) becomes a heavy military garment which tackles imaginary stories about the ancient ruler Gheghis Khan in the city of Otyrar (Kazakhstan).
