ASIA NOW x Musée national des arts asiatiques - Guimet

On the occasion of ASIA NOW 2019, the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet is organizing a contemporary art exhibition, from October 16 to January 6, 2020. This exhibition presents the museum's recent acquisitions, and highlights the diversity of contemporary Asian art.

L’Asie maintenant is dedicated to representing all artistic expressions, from painting and photography to ceramics. Among the artists exhibited at l'Asie maintenantYoshimi Futamura, represented by La Patinoire Royale - Galerie Valérie Bach (Brussels), and Min Jung Yeon, represented by Galerie Maria Lund (Paris), will be presented at ASIA NOW 2019, 16-20 October.

Min Jung-Yeon will be exhibited at the musée national des arts asiatiques - Guimet from November 6, 2019, as part of a new carte blanche to a contemporary art, entitled Réconciliation.

On 27 September 2019, the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris (MCJP) hosted -  collaboration with the Cernuschi Museum, the Friends of the Cernuschi Museum and ASIA NOW - a conference-screening on the artist Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba, an important figure in Japanese video art.

Born in 1968, Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba is an internationally renowned Vietnamese-Japanese artist. He has benefited from solo and group exhibitions in numerous museums around the world, such as the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and the Pompidou Center in Paris, as well as at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and 2005. His work lies halfway between video and performance and questions the scars left by history in its two countries of origin as well as in the minds of its compatriots.

During this evening, two videos of the artist shot in Japan and relating to the Vietnam War were screened, followed by a discussion with Mael Bellec, chief curator at the Cernuschi Museum, where one of the two films was already shown last year as part of the "Cernuschi Art Video" program.

ASIA NOW 2019: Focus on Contemporary Chinese Photography

ASIA NOW x Les Maisons du Voyage

On 30 September 2019, ASIA NOW and Les Maisons du Voyage hosted the conference "ASIA NOW 2019: Focus on Contemporary Chinese Photography" at Les Maisons du Voyage. The conference was moderated by Holly Roussell, art historian specialising in Asian contemporary photography, and Magda Danysz, founder of the DANYSZ gallery, which represents several contemporary Chinese photographers. Magda Danysz discussed her experience in China, where her gallery is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Holly Roussell presented the work of artists she has exhibited and who will be on show at ASIA NOW this year, such as Pixy Liao and Huang Xiaoliang.

The conference was moderated by Philippe de Boucaud, founder of the influence communication and cultural engineering firm: BeCLAM! influence & Culture and curator of the exhibition 'Yin Xin', which will be on show at the Vatican, Bordeaux and Beaune in 2020.
