Beyond the art of collecting itself, there are a number of other aspects that add to the enjoyment: making the collection public, providing patronage to museums, meeting and exchanging with like-minded art enthusiast across different regions and developing a nuanced a form of self-expression.

Monique Leong from Macao and Manila-based collector Timothy Tan, will give insight into their collector stories. The discussion will reveal how collecting has become a source of joy, bringing them closer to their families and communities at large, as well as touch on the process of developing passion for art and the collector scene.

The talk will be moderated by Christoph Noe, expert on Chinese contemporary art, co-founder of LARRY’S LIST and book author. Christoph’s latest publication How To Not Fuck Up Your Art-World Happiness will be exclusively available at the event.

Timothy Roy Tan is a luxury furniture and lighting distributor in the Philippines. As an art collector, he has curated an impressive collection of international emerging artists with a focus on whimsical themes. Some of his collection will be showcased this coming December by the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and also in February 2023 by the College of Saint Benilde.

A Macao native and recent graduate from UPenn, Monique Leong, is a Gen Z collector that has taken every opportunity to immerse herself in the art world. While her equally passionate mother focuses on blue chip and emerging artists, Monique has chosen to broaden their collection with lesser-known young artists she encounters at smaller galleries and fairs. At the age of 22, Monique serves on UCCA’s International Circle, X Museum’s Board of Trustees and Palais de Tokyo’s International Board.

Christoph Noe is the co-founder LARRY'S LIST, the leading art market knowledge company providing data, research and access to contemporary art collectors.
