Dilyara Kaipova

Dilyara Kaipova has produced two hand-made kaftans made of abr fabrics from the Fergana Valley (Uzbekistan). Part of the series Great Cotton Road Project, the artist uses representations and symbols of the cotton bulb inherited from the Soviet period to denounce the exploitation of cotton. One kaftan features white symbols of cotton with the words ‘Paxta Yogi’ (cotton oil) while the green kaftan features the word ‘Paxta’ (cotton in Uzbek), generated via a ternary numerical system.

Dilyara Kaipova is represented by the Aspan Gallery
