Cuturi Gallery proudly presents A Torrid Eden by Khairulddin Wahab (b. 1990, Singapore), which explores the complex historical geographies of the tropics and delves into the ways the tropical imaginary has been produced, regulated, and influenced by Western knowledge, institutions, and scholarship through a system of representation. Weaving narratives from environmental history, geography, and post-colonialism, A Torrid Eden centers around the production of knowledge and the representation of the tropics in history. The tropics have often been depicted as a sight to be seen, a view to be had, or a vision to be experienced by European travelers and colonial figures throughout history.
