ARTIST

Kamran Diba

In the 1990ies, Kamran Diba was approached by a US collector trying to identify if this attached picture, painted in 1964, was by him?

This event prompted him to recreate a new series of lost collages, going back to 1964. New paintings of “Body Parts” were born in 2011. Consequently, this series are continueIn  up to the present day. Some of the recent new images of 2021 include a written word. The idea is to bring about a cognitive dimension to the picture.

The images printed on canvas are of collage cut outs made by the artist. Later, he paints with acrylic over the canvas maintaining some of the left over original collaged imagery. As opposed to the previously original expressionist attitude, these works are more geometrically structured.

Larger diptych paintings of black and white next to the color is meant to show the dichotomy of vitality versus subtlety of black and white image.
