Artvera’s Gallery presents You Hyeonkyeong’s first solo exhibition in Paris. In almost every piece by You Hyeonkyeong appears a person. The exact identity of the model is unclear but the title is the only explanation. You Hyeonkyeong believes that painting has a strong potential as a narrative medium and tries to capture the attitude or demeanour of the human subject vis-à-vis their surroundings, mainly depicting impressions, momentary expressions and manifestations of their inner emotions.

You Hyeonkyeong has begun to present her works more actively since being selected as part of the “New Artist Exhibition Program” at the Seoul Museum of Art in 2009; in the same year, she won the Ha Dong-chul Award and was selected as part of “Monsters of the East” by Art in Culture magazine. She now draws continuous attention, being selected for prizes by the OCI Museum, Seoul (2011), the Seoul Foundation for Art and Culture (2012), and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Seoul (2013).
