Rain Wu

The Tea Set is a series of narrative objects made by Rain Wu as the artist in residence at the Design Museum London in 2016, to illustrate the cultural history around a British cuppa through a devised Tea Ceremony with Eastern attention and appreciation.

Made of rough stoneware clay, The Tea Set alludes to a ritual unearthed from a distant time. Guests at the Tea Ceremony will be served cups of English breakfast tea accompanied by several narratives read by the master of ceremony, highlighting Britain’s cultural and socio-history of tea.

The physical presence of attending a ceremony is to reimagine the conventions of an exhibition by experiential engagements with the audience.
