Primo Marella Gallery and Primae Noctis Gallery will present a co-curated project, passing through tradition and innovation, to unveil new paths in Asian Art. Seven artists has been selected focusing on a contrast between young and established, to convey the polysemantic language of the Asian context in relationship with powerful international influences.
One of today’s leading voices in contemporary Southeast Asian art, Ronald Ventura takes interest in exploring the human and animal form and instincts as ways of commenting on social issues, human values, and current events. The Chinese Master He Sen reinvents classical Chinese landscape paintings, replacing figures with symbols as bamboo and pine. He Wei combines photo-realistic painting with stages of abstraction, where shades of colors get lost in the rigor of lines and square shapes. Besta Bestrizal in his surrealistic scenarios revolves around themes of humanity, science and art. In S. Dwi Stya Acong's works the jarring contrast between strange glowing structures and the concrete colors of the background jolt the viewer. Farhan Siki shows the reality through his ironic spray paint works, raising reflections about the pop culture of the 21st Century. In Nguyen Thai Tuan paintings, the individual is no longer a human being but merely its simulacrum.
