Western Horizon - Exposition monographique de Yang Li
Yang Li has always been concerned about the theme of “Ruins of Modern Civilization”. He tries to record the forgotten existence from a neutral perspective. Many of his works have a special background. For instance, “404 NOT FOUND”, one of his famous series, documents his disappearing hometown, a village has never been mapped but named as a number: 404.
For ASIANOW 2018, 24P Studio will present a solo show entitled Western Horizon by bringing artist’s latest series that has never been exhibited. Unlike the other objective records of the civilization traces, this new series is dominated by bleak image of western China. The pictures are succinct and restrained, but they convey a warmth of emotion. Eventually, those objective scenes are connected as a subjective panorama by unified horizon.
Although his works always present little-known scenes, they have caused people’s deep resonance. Like this western trail lost in time, it represents a unique and irreplaceable period, in the meantime, it also evokes memories that are vanishing from everyone’s heart.
