Chiho Hayashi


Born in Oregon in 1988, Chiho Hayashi earned her degree in Painting from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2013, and is currently working towards a Master’s in the same university. 

Her exhibitions include “Art Project OITA 2013 Junkan” (Contemporary Art Gallery of OITA), “Trans Arts Tokyo 2013,” the Setouchi Triennale (2013), Identity IX (2013, Nichido Contemporary Art), and “You are Beautiful – Love Primavera” (2012, Art Center Ongoing). She acted as a performer in Makoto Aida’s 2012 exhibition, “Sorry, I’m a Genius” (Mori Art Museum, 2012).

She is known for her kitsch and comical enactments of shockingly made up characters in her video work.

At ASIA NOW 2018, Chiho Hayashi will participate in the exhibition Transitionalcurated by Reiko Tsubaki and Hirokazu Tokuyama of the Mori Art Museum
