Shiori Eda

Biography

Shiori Eda is a Japanese painter born in Tokyo in 1983.

Winner of numerous awards (Kume Prize in 2005, Ataka Prize in 2006, Salon du printemps Prize and the Ohashi Prize in 2008, Taro Amano Prize in 2010), Shiori Eda received her degree from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2010. She soon caught the attention of the world-renowned Japanese painter Kyosuke Tchinal.

Acclaimed by the Japanese press, her work is known, appreciated, and collected in Japan. With a unique style, halfway between figurative and surrealist, Shiori Eda presents, with each one of her paintings, a depiction of Life and an interpretation of Humankind, represented by a woman facing time and nature.

Currently shown in France, the artist deepens her thought-process and unveils a nature which is sometimes gentle and sometimes violent, yet definitively untamed and always phenomenal. Her universe plunges us into the depths of a sky and water, which thicken underneath her fine brushstrokes.
