Chief Curator, Centre Pompidou
Catherine David is the deputy director of the Musée National d’Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where she has spearheaded an internationally diverse program. From 1982 to 1990 David was curator at the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, and from 1990 to 1994 she was curator at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris. From 1994 to 1997 David served as artistic director for documenta X in Kassel, Germany (1997), and since 1998 she has been director of the long-term project Contemporary Arab Representations, which began at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona. Between 2002 and 2004 David was director of the Witte de With Center of Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (MOT) and professor of curatorial and art theory at Tama Art University in Tokyo.
She has curated several Biennials, including the 7th Moscow Biennial in 2017, the 11th Sharjah Biennial in 2013, and the 7th Istanbul Biennial in 2001. More recently, she curated the “Japanorama-Nouveau regard sur la création contemporain,” shown at the Pompidou-Metz from October 20th, 2017–March 5th , 2018.

Former Co-director of Yokohama Triennale 2017/Artistic Director of its 2011 edition, Senior and Chief Curator at Palais de Tokyo (2000-2014), Miki served also Guest Curator for many major museums including Mori Art Museum, Yokohama Museum of Art, Barbican Art Gallery and National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul as well as for international shows like 1998 Taipei Biennial “Site of Desire.” Recent curatorial projects include “Islands, Constellations & Galapagos” (2017), “Anri Sala: Teshima Sea Wall House”(2016),“Takashi Murakami’s Superflat Collection - from Shōhaku and Rosanjin to Anselm Kiefer” (2016), “Takashi Murakami: The 500 Arhats” (2015), “Hiroshi Sugimoto: Today the world died” (2014),“Our Magic Hour” (2011), “French Window” (2011), “Chalo! India: A New Era of Indian Art” (2008). She is also Co-author/Co-editor of number of books including Insular Insight (Lars Müller, 2011) which received the DAM Architectural Book Award and Nobuyoshi Araki: Self, Life, Death, (Phaidon Press, 2005), and many others.

Mika earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History from UCLA, which culminated in the AICA-USA award-winning exhibition and catalogue, Requiem for the Sun: The Art of Mono-ha (2012) at Blum & Poe. Formerly Curator at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C (2011-2018). Most recently Mika was guest curated Topologies at The Warehouse in Dallas, Texas and is currently working on a major selected survey of contemporary Japanese art for Blum & Poe in Los Angeles. Mika curated major exhibitions including : Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors (2017-19), Shana Lutker: Le 'NEW' Monocle, Chapters 1-3 (2015-16), Days of Endless Time (with Kelly Gordon) (2014-15), Gravity’s Edge (2014), and Dark Matters (with Melissa Ho in 2012), and coordinated Ai Weiwei: According to What? (2012-13). She has worked on major monographic exhibitions as curatorial liaison for Lee Ufan: Marking Infinity (2011) at The Guggenheim from 2010-2011, and as project coordinator for © MURAKAMI (2007-09) at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles from 2005-2009.
